Serials VS full length and all that

So, it has come to my attention that certain bloggers loathe serials. Why? Bc it’s a waste of time for the reader basically.
My opinion: my debut into the indie world was a serial. Why? Because I didn’t know if I had it in me to write. I wanted to see how my books were accepted before writing a full length. A full length is considerably more in money to get out to the masses than one book in a serial. For me? It was a better idea.
Cliffys? Love them or love to hate them? I love them. I don’t necessarily want to wait 3 years for the next book in the series, but I love a good cliffy. I love than an author has the tremendous amount of talent to keep me on the edge of my seat.

People who don’t write, don’t know the extensive process authors and their team go through. Or the amount of money it takes to put out a single book. When most debut authors don’t have the following to make a profit at all on that book. So, when you say to charge a higher price sounds good in theory right? Well, a .99 cent serial is a good price. But, Gasp!, the author does a box set and prices a 3 book serial at 2.99 people riot. The reader community seem to not buy a book unless it’s on sale. Which most authors write for themselves not the money, but jesus we still need to make a living.

As a reader, you control what you buy. But, 95% of you buy the book and LOVE it but never review it. If you want authors to lower prices, they need to sell a crap ton of books. And if you love a book but don’t take two minutes to put a review up on Amazon how will anyone know if it’s good? My books will stay the prices they are because I am damn fucking proud of my work. I write what I want to write, and not what would please everyone else. Be considerate and respectful when slamming indie authors for what they choose to write. The last time I thought we’re indie writes for a reason, we don’t answer to a publishing company and least of all we don’t answer to bloggers who don’t know anything except what a good or bad book is. Save the judgement for someone who really needs or wants to hear it.
